Virginia Vehicle Power of Attorney Form

The Virginia vehicle power of attorney form is a document that that allows a Principal to delegate powers to an Agent that will allow the Agent to act on behalf of the Principal, to register and/or transfer ownership of a vehicle through the Division of Motor Vehicles (DMV). The document will commence immediately and shall terminate when the act has been completed. This document may be revoked at the discretion of the Principal.

How to Write

Step 1 – Vehicle Owner Information – Enter the following:

  • Owner’s name (last, first, middle)
  • Street address
  • City, State and Zip Code
  • AND
  • Co-Owner’s name (last, first, middle)
  • Street address
  • City, State and Zip Code

Step 2 – Appointment of Agent – Submit:

  • Full legal name (last, first, middle)
  • Street address
  • City, State and Zip Code

Step 3 – Vehicle Information –

  • Vehicle Make
  • Body Type
  • Model Year
  • Vehicle Identification Number (VIN)
  • Title Number

Step 4 – Certification and Signatures – Principal must read before signing:

  • Owner Signature
  • Owner Social Security Number or EIN
  • Date of signature in mm/dd/yyyy format
  • AND
  • Co-Owner’s Signature
  • Co-Owner’s Social Security Number or EIN
  • Date of signature in mm/dd/yyyy format
