An Iowa power of attorney is a legal document that is used by a Principal so that they may appoint another person, here known as, an Attorney In Fact/Agent to make decisions on behalf of the Principal while they are temporarily unable to make their own decisions about their finances, health care or property. The designated person must agree to make decisions always in the best interest of the Principal. Effectiveness of the document will depend upon the wishes of the Principal. The appointment may become immediately effective or it may become effective only should the Principal become effective only once the Principal is no longer able to make decisions due to incapacitation.
