Minnesota Power of Attorney Forms are documents to authorize someone to act on behalf of the Grantor to advise an Agent, to whom they would entrust their business and/or health care preferences powers. The powers documents may be general or limited in nature. A general powers form may authorize complete powers over the estate or business. A limited powers document or any other sort of special powers would likely allow an Agent to act on behalf of the Grantor, in limited or specific matters only. All powers documents will identify the Grantor as the “Principal,” the Agent, in some cases may be referred to as an Attorney In Fact. Agent’s are not required to be attorneys. However the Principal must be comfortable with the level of trust with regard to the Agent that is selected. Although the powers documents are legal documents, they are not court forms.
